The Arab American University has received a delegation from the Sheffield Palestine Solidarity Campaign and the Teacher Creativity Center, who visited it to discuss academic and research collaboration as well as to meet with University students benefiting from the Campaign's financial support to complete their university studies.

The delegation was received by Professor Hazem Khanfar, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Imad Fashafsheh, Dean of Student Affairs, and Mr. Firas Saifi, Director of Public Relations. The delegation included Ms. Christie Wright and Ms. Ghada Rabah, representatives of the Sheffield Palestine Solidarity Campaign’s West Bank branch, which supports Palestinian women, as well as Abdullah Jarar and Abeer Sawadi from the Teacher Creativity Center.

The Sheffield Palestine Solidarity Campaign aims to support women in Palestine in accessing education. The campaign currently supports 14 female students from the Jenin and Tulkarm areas, contributing to their university tuition fees and helping them overcome the challenges they face. This support is provided through the Teacher Creativity Center, the Campaign’s main partner in the West Bank.

During the reception, Dr. Khanfar expressed his gratitude to the Campaign representatives for this initiative to support Palestinian female students in completing their university studies amidst the difficult economic conditions faced by the Palestinian people. He affirmed the University’s readiness to cooperate in this field, in addition to strengthening collaboration in academic and research fields.

He also provided the visiting delegation with an overview of the University, its faculties, specializations, and academic programs at the bachelor’s, masters and doctoral levels, offered at the University’s campuses in Jenin and Ramallah.

Ms. Christie spoke about the Campaign’s objectives, events, and activities aimed at increasing solidarity with the Palestinian people, and its programs specifically designed to support women.

For his part, Mr. Abdullah Jarar emphasized that the relationship with the Arab American University is a strategic one, based on a shared vision with the University administration regarding joint work and cooperation to advance the educational process.

Following the reception, the Sheffield Campaign delegation met with the students who received the Campaign scholarship. The delegation listened to the students about their majors, their satisfaction with the scholarship provided, and the obstacles they face. The students also expressed their gratitude to the Campaign, the Teacher Creativity Center, and those in charge of this support in the two institutions.
